A Short Getaway to Perhentian Island

Love love love the long stretch of soft white sand, the clear sapphire blue water and the breathtaking view. Long Beach on Perhentian Kecil is indeed an amazing, relaxing spot.

These are the fabulous friends I went with.10th of May was our beloved Diana's birthday. It was our first time there, well most of us and we just know it won't be the last.

It took us 8 hours to get to Kuala Besut from Kuala Lumpur. We then had to transfer from the speedboat to the taxi boat to finally reached to Long Beach. It was definitely long and tiring but it was worth it.

When I first set foot on the beach, I just couldn't wait to get into the water. The weather was great, the water was chilly, it was perfect! We had so much fun in the water; we went swimming, snorkeling, feeding the fish, taking pictures, swimming with the turtle and looking for baby sharks (which was quite scary to be at a shark point). How I wish I could do this often.

You have no idea how amazing I felt seeing all these beautiful creatures right in front of my eyes. The beautiful corals, the colourful fish, the huge turtle and so much more. Too bad I didn't get to take pictures of the baby shark.

One of the thing that I won't forget about Perhentian Island is this mesmerizing view of sunset over the sea.  You can't get this in Kuala Lumpur, right? We had to do a short jungle trekking for about 15 minutes from our chalet, Tropicana Inn to Coral Bay to be able to witness this remarkably beautiful sunset.

Perhentian Island have a lot of restaurants along the beach and they also have a wide variety of food. We got to tryout a lot of different seafood dishes in Perhentian Island. Fried Calamari, Seafood Tomyam, Grilled Stingray, Grilled Tiger Prawn, Grilled King Fish and they were all very delicious. Even the burger they sell at the stall was delicious. The food there was quite pricey but it was worth every penny.

At Sun down, other than walking across the cool sandy beach or staring at the breathtaking starry sky, we got to enjoy the hula and fire dance at Black Tip Bar while playing game cards. We just chilled and laughed all night by the huge bonfire. Oh, good times.

When we got pretty tired with all the swimming and snorkeling, we just lay down by the beach, embracing the sights and sounds of the beautiful day. And of course, nothing beats sipping refreshing fruit ice blended while enjoying the soothing sensation of the Sun, the breeze and the sand below our body.

Well that was all the good stuff, and now comes the bad. The only thing that I don't like about the trip was the package we took under this guy named, Wan. We were promised to get a chalet at Rock Garden but then we were told that there were no rooms left for us so we had to stay at Tropicana Inn instead. The chalet was 15 minutes away from the beach, no air-cond but only have fans, the restaurant was closed for a week and the rooms didn't even come close to the pictures in the website.GRRR

Despite all that, I still think Perhentian Island is the most stunning beach I have ever seen, it is literally postcard perfect. I WANT TO GO THERE AGAIN! Maybe, next year?
